If you're training a service dog, field search is also part of several certification programmes, so it's worth prioritising thorough training of the field search.**

At Canis Clicker Camp 2017, you can learn how to apply clicker principles when teaching field search.

Field search is about searching a defined area and retrieving objects your dog finds there. This can be broken down into several parts, which you train separately.

  • Retrieving different objects
  • The search
  • Back-chaining multiple objects

This course is for you if you want to compete in working trials, aim to certify as a search and rescue dog or other service dog, or simply want to learn how you can use this fun sport for enrichment. You'll get the most from the course if your dog has solid foundation skills in "hold" and "start position".
