These terms apply to purchases of course places, time bookings and products via canishundeskole.no.
**Important:** The purchase agreement is between you as customer and the relevant instructor or seller — not with Canis Hundetrening AS. Canis operates the platform and facilitates the connection.
In addition to these general terms, every shop seller has their own purchase terms, which you see before the purchase is confirmed. In case of conflict, the seller's own terms take precedence on what is regulated there.
Who are the parties to the agreement?
Buyer: You, the person enrolling in a course.
Seller: The course instructor who offers the course. Each instructor operates their own sole proprietorship or limited company. The seller's contact information and company number can be found on the course details page and on the instructor's profile page.
If the lead instructor and teaching instructor are two different people: Some instructors are employed by another instructor (the «lead instructor»). In these cases, the lead instructor acts as lead instructor and seller — it is her business you have an agreement with, and payment goes to her. The employed instructor delivers the teaching and is professionally responsible for the course content. Both the lead instructor and the teaching instructor are clearly listed on the course details page and in the enrolment confirmation.
Platform: Canis Hundetrening AS (company number 912 079 953). Canis is not a party to the purchase, but provides the technical system and assists with general enquiries.
Formation of agreement
The agreement is formed when you have:
- Completed the enrolment form
- Accepted these terms and the privacy notice
- Received written confirmation by e-mail
The confirmation is sent automatically from the Canis system and contains course details, date, location and price.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown on each course or product. Prices are given in the seller's currency (NOK for Norwegian sellers, SEK for Swedish, DKK for Danish). Courses are exempt from VAT under the Norwegian VAT Act, so course prices do not include VAT. For products in the shop, VAT is included in the price shown.
Payment methods:
- Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Stripe Link via Stripe Connect — payment goes directly to the seller's bank account. The course place or order is confirmed as soon as the payment is completed.
- Klarna or MobilePay where the seller offers it (only for courses, not for shop products in this version).
- Invoice afterwards where the seller offers it. The seller invoices you via their own accounting system. Due date is typically 14 days.
Observer price: Some courses offer a reduced observer price without your own dog. You have the same rights as an ordinary participant (access, cancellation) but no right to participate actively with a dog.
Purchases in the shop
Each instructor can offer physical and digital products via their own mini-shop. The seller's contact info, registration number and purchase terms are shown before the purchase is confirmed.
Physical products (books, equipment, dog food):
- Delivered either by you picking up from the seller or being sent by post — you choose at checkout
- Shipping cost is shown before you confirm the purchase
- The seller usually ships within 3-5 working days. Specific delivery time may be agreed directly with the seller.
- Risk for the goods passes to you when they are handed over, or when you have collected them
Digital products (e-books, audio, video, course material):
- Access is given automatically by email immediately after payment
- The link is personal and valid for the period the seller has set (typically 1 year)
- We track the number of downloads to protect against link sharing
Available delivery countries: Each product has its own list of countries the seller ships to. If you give a delivery address in a country the seller does not ship to, you will receive a message about it at checkout.
Right of withdrawal
Under the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act § 21, you as a consumer have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the time the agreement is concluded — but how this is practised depends on what you have bought.
Courses and time booking: You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from enrolment. When the course starts, or course material (files, videos, preparation tasks) is delivered to you within the 14-day period, and you have consented to immediate start (you tick a box at enrolment), the right of withdrawal lapses from that moment — cf. the Right of Withdrawal Act § 22 b. Many instructors send material digitally already at enrolment.
Physical products in the shop (books, equipment, dog food): You have full 14 days of right of withdrawal from the day you receive the goods. You must notify the seller that you want to use the right of withdrawal, and return the goods in approximately the same condition you received them in. You cover the return shipping yourself. The seller refunds the purchase amount and original shipping within 14 days of receiving the goods back. The seller's return address is shown on the receipt and in the seller's own purchase terms.
Digital products (e-books, audio, video delivered directly): The right of withdrawal lapses the moment delivery begins, provided you have consented to immediate delivery and confirmed that you are aware that the right of withdrawal then lapses — cf. the Right of Withdrawal Act § 22 n. You tick boxes for both at the purchase. In practice this means the right of withdrawal is gone as soon as you have clicked the download link or opened the digital resource.
To use the right of withdrawal, send written notice to the seller. You can also use the standard form from the Norwegian Consumer Authority.
Cancellation
Enrolment in a course at Canis is binding, on the same principle as when buying tickets to concerts or performances. When you have booked a place, the instructor has reserved it for you and laid the groundwork for the course to proceed. In addition, delivery often starts before the course date — many instructors send out course material, instructional videos and preliminary tasks as soon as you enrol.
The main rule: Once the withdrawal period has expired or your right of withdrawal has been lost (see previous section), you have no automatic right to a refund if you need to withdraw.
What you can do instead:
- Transfer to another participant — in many cases you can transfer your place to someone else. Contact the instructor to clarify practical details.
- Request goodwill consideration in case of acute illness — against a medical certificate or other documentation, the instructor may at their discretion offer you a place on a later course. This is not a legally guaranteed right, but an option you can request.
If the instructor cancels the course (instructor's illness, insufficient enrolments, other matters on the instructor's side): Full refund. You can also choose to wait for the next available course start date.
For cancellation, contact your instructor directly. Contact information can be found on the course details page or in your confirmation.
Defects and complaints
If the course does not meet the expected professional standard or is otherwise defective, you have the right to a price reduction, replacement (another course) or refund, in accordance with the Consumer Purchases Act.
Time limit for complaints: Complaints must be made within a reasonable time after you discover the defect, no later than 2 years after the course has been delivered.
Complaints should be sent to the instructor first. If you cannot agree, you can contact Canis head office at canis@canis.no for mediation. You can also complain to the Consumer Authority or use the ODR platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr).
Liability and disclaimers
Dog training involves a certain amount of risk. As a dog owner you are responsible for your dog during the course.
Insurance: We recommend that your dog has valid insurance covering veterinary expenses for injuries sustained during the course.
Declaration: By enrolling, you confirm:
- Your dog is healthy and free from contagious disease
- Your dog has up-to-date vaccinations in accordance with the recommendations of the Norwegian Veterinary Institute
- You participate at your own risk and release Canis and the instructor from liability for injuries to you, your dog or your equipment — except in cases of gross negligence on the part of the instructor
Force majeure
Force majeure is an extraordinary event beyond the parties' control — pandemic, government orders, natural disaster, war or serious illness of the instructor.
If force majeure affects the instructor (so that the course cannot be held as planned): You can choose between full refund or a place on the next available course. If course material has already been delivered to you digitally, a partial refund may be considered by individual agreement.
If you as a participant are affected (your own illness, fire, death in the family): This is not considered force majeure under the agreement itself, and your enrolment remains binding. However, the instructor may at their discretion offer you a place on a later course with documentation. Such cases are handled individually.
Jurisdiction and governing law
Norwegian law applies. Disputes shall be resolved amicably. If this is not successful, the matter may be referred to the Consumer Authority or to the district court where the buyer resides.
