Nose work annual course level 125 spots left

Are you fascinated by nose work and want to develop both yourself and your dog further? Then this year-long course is for you! 🐢

Throughout an entire year we'll gather for informative and intensive training weekends, where we'll go in depth on different aspects of nose work. We won't just train your dog – we'll also become better observers, trainers and problem-solvers. 🧠

The course is suitable for you if you want to develop your skills in nose work, whether your goal is competition, further training or simply becoming even better at understanding and utilising your dog's fantastic sense of smell. πŸ‘ƒβœ¨

Here you'll have the opportunity to geek out with like-minded people πŸ€“, observe multiple dogs solving the same tasks and receive individualised guidance on your own training.

🎯 What you'll learn on the course:

The course runs over four weekend gatherings and one evening gathering throughout the year. We work both individually and in groups with concrete tasks, and you'll receive one-to-one guidance along the way. πŸ™Œ

An important part of the course is also learning through observation. πŸ‘€ By seeing multiple dogs solve the same search, you'll have the opportunity to train your own eye for detail and become better at reading what your dog is actually telling you.

πŸ‘ƒ Topics we work with:

- 🐾 Learning and training on all three scents

- 🎯 Finds and communication

- 🌬️ Scent trailing

- πŸ“ Hide placement

- πŸ‘ƒ Following the scent

- 🎯 Nose on source

- πŸ‘€ Reading your dog

- 🧠 How to become a better nose work trainer

- πŸ‘ƒ Your dog's sense of smell – and how we can utilise it in training

- πŸ”Ž Observation and analysis of search work

- 🧩 Problem-solving and adapting search tasks

- πŸ• How the handler's actions affect your dog's search

- πŸ… Strategic training for competition

- πŸ‘₯ Practical work in groups with concrete tasks

Throughout the year you'll receive tasks and challenges that mean you'll not only train your dog, but also train yourself to become a better nose work trainer. πŸ’‘πŸΎ

How do we become better trainers for our dogs? We explore learning principles, effective session planning, the handler's role in the search and learning all three scents.

Weekend 2 – 5–6 December – From Expectation to Find

*Packaging, Expectations and Find Behaviour*

We work with start and search routines, stress regulation, expectations, packaging searches, reward and how your dog communicates that it has found the scent.

*Vehicles, Multiple Finds and Search Understanding*

We explore vehicle searches, multiple finds, combinations of the three scents and how we can read your dog's search behaviour. We take a closer look at sniff frequency and how we build a dog that can tolerate searching over time.

Weekend 4 – 6–7 March – The Paths of Scent

*Indoor and Outdoor Search, Ageing and Scent Trailing*

Where does scent go? We investigate how environment, distractions and ageing affect the search, and we work with scent trailing and scent pooling.
