Spesialsøk is a test format where the dog learns to search for a specific scent (red kong). On this introductory course, you'll receive a practical introduction to what Spesialsøk is, how dogs learn to recognise the scent of kong in various sizes, and how you can start training in a simple and positive way. We place great emphasis on achievement, motivation and teamwork between dog and handler.
On the course you'll learn, amongst other things:
What Spesialsøk is and how the training is structured.
How dogs learn to recognise a specific scent.
Teaching search motivation and search enthusiasm.
How reward and motivation affect learning.
Basic search techniques.
A little about marking.
How to read your dog when it's working.
Simple exercises you can continue with at home.
No prior knowledge is required, and your dog doesn't need previous experience with search work.
