Hi! My name is Kristine and I'm an instructor for Canis Hundeskole in Bodø, where I recently established a new Canis branch.
I have over 10 years' experience as an instructor in the eastern regions of Norway, and extensive experience running courses and supporting both family dogs and competition teams across various canine sports.
I grew up with dogs, but started structured training when I got my first dog, a Wheaten Terrier, in 2014. Through clicker training I discovered a training approach based on behavioural science principles, which provides effective and positive training for both dog and handler – and which I have since developed a deep interest in.
Today I have a 5-year-old Border Collie, Skinner, whom I train and compete with in competition obedience, working dog sports (tracking, search and rescue and field search), rally obedience and various forms of search work, including Nosework.
My main interests are competition obedience, working dog sports and search work, but I also have experience with rally obedience and blood tracking, among other things. I'm passionate about using behavioural science to build reliable competition dogs and handlers, with particular focus on developing consistent behaviour chains, endurance and systematic skill-building.
I have completed Canis's Clickertraining: The 4 Secrets of Becoming a Supertrainer and the one-year Canis clicker instructor course, and over the years I have attended numerous courses and seminars in various canine sports and more. I have also taken several master's-level modules in behavioural science at OsloMet, which means I have solid expertise in both dog and human behaviour. I also regularly attend courses and seminars to stay professionally up to date. I am also a qualified Nosework instructor and judge.
As an instructor, I'm committed to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where both dog and owner experience success. I have personal experience with a dog who faced challenges in training situations, and I understand how important it is to provide adjustments and understanding for all types of dogs and people on courses. With me, everyone should feel welcome – regardless of where they're starting from.
