Hi! I'm Kristine, an instructor for Canis Hundeskole in Bodø, where I've recently established a new Canis branch.
I have over 10 years' experience as an instructor in the Eastern Norway region, with broad experience running courses and supporting both family dogs and competitive teams across various dog sports.
I grew up with dogs, but began structured training when I got my first dog, a Wheaten Terrier, in 2014. Through clicker training, I discovered a training approach based on behavioural science principles, which delivers effective and positive training for both dog and handler – and I've been deepening my knowledge of it ever since.
I currently have a 6-year-old Border Collie, Skinner, whom I train and compete with in competitive obedience, working dog sports (tracking, search and rescue and field search), rally obedience and various forms of search work, including nose work.
I'm passionate about applying behavioural science to develop competitive dogs and handlers, with particular focus on systematic skill-building, development of reliable behavioural chains, and resilience in training and competition. Over the years, I've trained and competed in competitive obedience, working dog sports (tracking, search and rescue and field search), rally obedience, nose work, blood tracking and scent detection. This experience has given me broad insight into what's required to develop strong competitive dogs across different disciplines.
I've completed Canis's Clickertraining: The 4 Secrets of Becoming a Supertrainer course and the one-year Canis klikkerINSTRUKTØRkurs 2026/27, as well as numerous courses and seminars in various dog sports over the years. In addition, I've taken several master's level modules in behavioural science at OsloMet, which means I have solid expertise in both dog and human behaviour. I also regularly attend courses and seminars to stay professionally current. I'm also a qualified instructor and judge in nose work.
As an instructor, I'm committed to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where both dog and handler experience success. I have personal experience with a dog with challenges in training situations, and I understand how important tailored support and understanding are for all types of dogs and people on courses. With me, everyone should feel welcome – regardless of where they're starting from.
