Slik begynner du å klikkertrene hester

The most important principles to think about at the start are:

- Reward the horse with a flat hand (so you keep your fingertips longer) and a straight arm (so it stays at a more comfortable distance.)

- Reward the horse so that it must bend its head down towards its chest when it gets the treat.

- Teach the horse "horsie-zen", i.e. to move away from what it wants in order to get it.

- The horse should move for you – NOT the other way around.

These rules are good insurance against the horse becoming pushy, and keep it at a comfortable distance when we reward it.

Only when this is in place do we begin to train other things we have use for. Over the next few days I will demonstrate some simple exercises that you can start with when you want to clicker train your horse. It is important to start with the simple things, and build from there as both you and the horse begin to learn the new system.
